Tis the season for DIY!! Holiday Prep is finally here
And yes, I am beyond excited. My favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas. There’s just so much love in the air that no matter how cold it is outside, you always feel fuzzy inside.
I may sound a little corny, and that’s how much I love this time of the year hehe.
Speaking about DIY and whats in the air… I am going to share with you my ultimate DIY project –
Whether you make these for yourself or as little presents for your family or friends, I assure you will love these, and your family and friends will too. Because who doesn’t love candles!? If you read first post – 30 Facts About Me – You will see that Fact #9 talks about my little candle-obsession. Which I proudly carry haha.
After making some candles to give as favors for my son’s baptism, I realized there is more to candle making that one might think. One of the things I love most about candle is their scent.
I love the fact that each scent can take you back to different times of the year, places, and sometimes they might even remind you of someone close to you. Since a candle’s scent is one of the biggest factors on making a good candle I only use the best – Nature’s Truth Essential Oils.
They have a big range or scents but for this DIY project I decided to two specific Nature’s Truth Essential Oils – Frankincense, which if you haven’t heard about, is steam distilled from the tree’s resin. So it has some pine notes. Frankincense also has great sweet citrus notes with rich, warm undertones. It is very uplifting and invigorating scent, so Frankincense is a wonderful complement to any meditation routine. I also used Peppermint because it is very refreshing and it also reminds me of the holidays. It has such an amazing strong cool and minty fragrance.
You may be thinking “Where can I find Nature’s Truth Essential Oils?” … Do not worry, I got you 🙂 – I got my Nature’s Truth Essential Oils in the vitamin aisle at CVS. Also, to your luck, here you can also have a Stimulate The Senses Coupon!
Now, let’s get these Candles started!
First, get all your products together. You need – Soy wax flakes, Nature’s Truth Essential Oils – Frankincense and Peppermint, one medium size pot, one pouring or melting pot, one soap & candle Thermometer, Candle Wicks, Glass containers, and lastly, Wood Clothing Pin Clips.
Second, fill up the medium size pot about half way and turn the stove on to medium heat. Then, fill up you melting/pouring pot with the Soy wax flakes. Place the melting/pouring pot in the middle of the medium size pot.
While the wax melts…
… Get your glass containers ready with the candle wicks. Use the Wood Clothing Pin Clips to hold and keep the Candle wicks up and in place.
Remember to watch the thermometer. Once the wax melts and reaches 160°F – 180°F …
… Add the Nature’s Truth Essential Oils. I first make the Frankincense candles and then I make the Peppermint candles. Gently mix, carefully pour the melted wax in to the glass containers, and let it cool for about 6-8 hours.
Once the candles are cool and ready you can cut the wick to the desire length.
I like to finish my candles with cute stickers that represent their scents! 🙂 and there you go! You made candles! I really hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
