One of the hardest things to figure out as parents is how to establish your child’s bedtime routine. Most times, the problem is that it’s hard to know where to start. I remember when my son was born, I had no idea how to get him used to a nightly routine. Unfortunately, a bedtime routine is almost impossible to create in the early days. Those are the days when your baby is still being fed every few hours. The good news: around three months or older, you can start to introduce a nightly bedtime routine.
I know having a routine isn’t for every family, but believe me, it is a great way for parents to make sure their babies are getting enough sleep. A bedtime routine teaches your baby when it’s time to sleep, and he/she should eventually get into the habit of winding down and falling asleep without making a fuss.
Here’s how my routine starts:
1. Bath time – In our house, we start our bedtime routine with a warm bath. I try to make it as quiet and calm as possible to help relax my baby.
2. Massage – Our favorite and go-to bedtime product is JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® Baby Lotion. Thanks to its special blend of gentle and calming aromas, it not only helps to moisturize his skin, but it soothes him as we prepare for bed.
