If you follow my social media accounts, you know it was my son’s birthday this past weekend, October 1st. He turned one! big number one. My Baby is not so little anymore..
I can not lie, I was stressing out the whole week, about the weather, the food, the guests, etc! We had decided to celebrate his birthday at a place called, Cox Farms. Its one of the funnest places for kids in this area (and parents too). It has big slides, castles, goats, cows, hayrides, kid friendly concerts and pumping picking! All in one place.
When Saturday came around, the day looked gloomy and not so pretty, we got a call from the farm and bad news!! Birthday party was cancelled for Saturday, but good news! it was reschedule for Sunday! That gave us a little bit more time to prepare and get the last little details ready. So it was a blessing in disguise 🙂
When we woke up Sunday, it was sunny and in the low 70’s, just perfect! Raphael couldn’t look any cutter, our guests arrived on time and we had a huge area all to ourselves.
Since this place is soooo much fun and there’s so much to do we decided to start the party by letting everyone run around, play and do as they pleased!
He first went to an area that had lots of tractors and trains and instruments. Raphael didn’t care about all that though, he just had to get on the big green tractor!!
Then we went to the castle slide! it was sooo fun! Carlos had to slide down with both Raphael and my sister, because she was too afraid to go down on her own haha! Brave Carlos!!!
Then it was my turn to slide down with Raphael! hahaha I think its safe to say, adults felt like kids all over again…
My brother decided to get on a train and Raphael went right behind him. My brother is 5 years old and it is truly beautiful to see how my brother and my son are so connected. They are already super close, I can not wait to see their relationship develop as they grow together. My heart melts by just seeing these two together 🙂
After some more walking and more slides, we got everyone together and got on a hayride, which I thought would last no more than 10 minutes, but it lasted a good 30 minutes. And yes! it was an actual hayride!
After all of that action, we headed back to the table to eat some pizza, and have some water and juice. Kids were all exhausted and so were the parents, so we needed some fuel to recharge.
My mom was amazing enough to make Raphael’s cake with Raphael’s party theme – Baseball (because daddy loves baseball haha)
While singing happy birthday I started to get emotional, I couldn’t believe, and still can’t believe a whole year has passed us so quickly. I really try to enjoy everyday as much as possible, but I realized I need to do a better job at truly enjoy everyday to the fullest..
I gotta say the cake sold out! everyone loved it and it was gone in a wink of an eye! so thanks Grandma, or as Rapha calls her “Abu”
When I thought we were saying good-bye and thank you to our guests, Carlos, my boyfriend and father of our son started to give a beautiful speech about how lucky we are to have Raphael in our lives and how our lives have change in an amazing way… You can imagine I was holding back the tears.
I was then wondering why Raphael’s was wearing a jacket, and then Carlos turn to look at me and told me that Raphael and him had a surprise for me… He proceeded to take Raphael’s jacket off and it said…
“Will you marry Daddy?”
I cried and could not stop! he knelt down and took the ring out!
and of course I said yes, well I was crying so much all I could do was nod my head!!! We hugged and then our family and friends came to hug us and congratulate us.. It really was unexpected but incredible 🙂
I am so glad I am able to write about this precious moment in our lives and happy to share our family moments with you!
And our story continues…
